I had several pastures to plant this fall and a stand of older alfalfa that I wanted to bulk up for a few more years. I called Casey at Mountain Meadows Seed and he listened to my wants and needs, looked at my fields and soil conditions and created custom mixes for each application.

In 2021, Casey Seber of Mountain Meadows Seed Company, reached out and asked me to try their seed. I have been planting 3-way forage hay and planned to go in with the same that fall. I planted at the end of September, was able to cut this crop of hay by the middle of June the following year. It yielded 4.26 ton per acre. The previous year, planting another seed I only yielded 3.25 ton per acre. I did a soil sample that Spring of 2022, it called for some fertilizer, but not much. With the cost of fertilizer, I did not fertilize this crop. I was very impressed with the yield, and I have put the same seed in the ground again this fall. It is up about 4 inches, and I anticipate an extremely productive crop again in the summer of 2023. The ground that I am planting is considered low ground and doesn’t typically yield well. I believe if you plant this seed on better soil, you will yield better. If you look close in the pictures you can see me. I’m 5’11” and it’s nearly as tall as I am.

This fall i had the opportunity to buy a large amount of seed from Casey with Mtn Meadow Seed as he was referred to me by a friend that had done business with Casey in the past. That ended up being a great choice and great experience for me. I told Casey what i was trying to do as far as pasture grass, he was quick to suggest a great variety of seed that would work in my area. The process was smooth from the time i ordered the seed to the delivery. All expectations were met and Casey even delivered the seed right to the ranch!
